Big Bend Vernal Pool

Map     Satellite

In this small vernal pool, lying in a level meadow area, there is the typical vernal pool vegetation, Limnanthes sp., Downingia sp., Plagiobothrys sp., etc. Until recently this was the only known site for the rare Blennosperma bakeri; however, two additional sites have been discovered several dozen kilometers to the northwest.

Integrity: The area is used for pasture and there are numerous exotic grasses. It is possible that it may be developed for a vineyard.

Use: Private
