Graton Road Serpentine Area
Map SatelliteThis is a small area of serpentine-derived soils southeast of the larger Harrison Grade - Camp Meeker Serpentine Area.
Most of the area consists of a grassland with unusually large colonies of wild anise, Perideridia kelloggii, and the wild buckwheats Eriogonum vimineum and Eriogonum nudum. Other species present include Gilia capitata, Orthocarpus rubicundula ssp. lithospermoides, Grindelia sp., Hemizonia sp. and Brodiaea spp.
The mixed evergreen forest includes California bay, Umbellularia californica, and madrone, Arbutus menziesii.
Integrity: There are dirt roads in the area and a portion was once quarried.
