Kenwood Marsh

Map     Satellite

One of, if not the only, remaining freshwater marsh in Sonoma Valley, this marsh is notable as the only known site for the plant Sidalcea oregana ssp. valida. There is a fairly large and vigorous population of the plant which occurs on the edge of the marsh. Tules, Scirpus sp., rush, Juncus sp., sedge, Carex sp., and knotweed, Polygonum sp., are the more conspicuous members of the marsh association.

There is a grassland, consisting primarily of exotics, which borders the marsh.

Integrity: The area is grazed by cows, but not overly so. There is a small artificial pond.

Use: Private
