Pitkin Marsh

Surrounded by a mixed evergreen forest and grassland, this freshwater marsh is of exceptional botanical interest. The commonest species in the marsh are Eleocharis rostellata, Juncus effusus var. pacificus and Juncus dubius.

A number of rare or endangered species have been reported in or near the marsh. They include Alopecurus aequalis var. sonomensis, Calamagrostis stricta ssp. inexpansa, Campanula californica, Carex albida, Castilleja miniata ssp. miniata, Lilium occidentale, Lilium pardalinum ssp. pitkinense, Perideridia gairdneri ssp. gairdneri, Rhynchospora alba, Rhynchospora californica and Rhynchospora capitellata.

Integrity: Both the marsh and the surrounding area have been disturbed, portions severely.
