O'Conner Lakes Ecological Reserve

Located on the right bank of the Sacramento River, this Reserve supports a riparian woodland with cottonwood, Populus fremontii, willows, Salix lasiolepis and Salix hindsiana, box elder, Acer negundo, and, on the higher ground, valley oak, Quercus lobata.

There are also sloughs and marshes with cattails, Typha sp., dominant as well as some open water.

A number of animal species are present including otter, Lutra canadensis, blue grosbeak, Guiraca caerulea, and numerous migratory waterfowl.

Integrity: Portions are leveed but much of the area is virtually undisturbed.

Use: Research, educational, observational.
