Packsaddle Cave

Packsaddle Cave is typical Sierran limestone cavern with such features as stalactites, stalagmites and pillars. It lies in Pre-Cretaceous limestone.

Vegetation in the area is primarily chaparral with gray pine, Pinus sabiniana, Ceanothus cuneatus, silk-tassel bush, Garrya flavescens, Yucca schidigera, and rabbit brush, Chrysothamnus nauseosus.

Animals are abundant and, among the mammals, badgers, Taxidea taxus, and bobcats, Lynx rufus, have been observed here.

Integrity: There is a trail in the area but the cave and vegetation are relatively undisturbed.

Use: Research, educational, observational, present.
