Woodward Creek Area
Map SatelliteJust outside the boundaries of the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, the vegetation of this area presents a contrast to that of the parks. It is dominated by a second and, in portions, third growth mixed-conifer forest. The main components of the forest here include white pine, Pinus monticola, ponderosa pine, Pinus ponderosa, red fir, Abies magnifica, and white fir, Abies concolor.
Animal life is typical of the central Sierra but some populations may reach their southern range limit here.
Integrity: Heavily used for recreational purposes, including several camps, the area has been reforested. A highway borders the area.
Uses Research, educational, observational, present.
