Leaves basal, withering, 8–12" (2–3 dm).
Flowers white to yellowish or lavender, generally purple-lined near base, with brown or purple blotch surrounded by a zone of bright yellow.
Blooming May–July.
Open grassland, woodland, dry meadows, yellow-pine forest.
Elevation < 5600' (1700 m).
Northwestern California, Cascade Ranges, Sierra Nevada, Central Western California, Southwestern California.
