Annual, 4–12" (10–30 cm).
This stiff-haired plant is branched throughout.
Flowers are white with a bright yellow central marking, and smell like
carnations.
Blooming March–May.
Sandy to gravelly soils, creosote-bush scrub, pinyon/juniper woodland.
Elevation < 6550' (2000 m).
Great Basin Province (east of Sierra Nevada), Desert Province.
