Shrub, 20–60" (5–15 dm).
Plant has many slender branches from base; the young stems are hairless, the older stems have smooth or roughened bark.
Flowers yellow with brown-purple center.
Blooming February–July.
Coastal bluffs and open or bushy slopes.
Elevation < 2000' (600 m).
Central Western California, Southwestern California.
