Rocky slopes, wet granite sand or gravel, moist meadows, along streams.
Elevation 5550–14750' (1700–4500 m).
Northwestern California, Cascade Ranges, Sierra Nevada, Southwestern California (Mt. Pinos), Great Basin Province (Warner Mountains).
