Flowers violet to lavender, patch bright yellow (turning purple).

Dry areas, slopes under pines, washes, sagebrush scrub.
Elevation < 9850' (3000 m).
Sierra Nevada, Southwestern California, Great Basin Province (east of Sierra Nevada), Desert Province.
