Plant densely hairy.
Flowers rose to dark magenta, throat floor gold, mouth generally with two lateral, dark maroon patches.
Blooming March–June.
Dry sandy wash margins, rocky desert slopes and canyons.
Elevation 400–7550' (120–2300 m).
Great Basin Province (east of Sierra Nevada), Desert Province.
