Stems brownish or purplish.
Flowers pale lilac, white, or pink with a wine-red band at base, yellow tinted below band.
Blooming May–July.
Dry, gravelly slopes, yellow-pine forest.
Elevation 450–8900' (150–2700 m).
Sierra Nevada.
